A step closer!

So within 24 hours of my last post/creating this blog Kristjan finds out that his ship's deployment has been delayed to leave by almost a whole month! Originally, they were supposed to set sail in June, but now it'll be early/mid July. Also on that same day, Kristjan's replacement came aboard and Kristjan will start training him to take over his position. Typically, for Kristjan's current position, only a week or two of training is necessary. This guy will have 6 months before Kristjan's orders are up in August. So, what does all of this mean?

It means that Kristjan may not have to go on this deployment at all! AND since his replacement is now on the ship, Kristjan may have more time to study for his qualifications (he has to pass all his qualifications to get his SWO pin - basically his ticket to Charleston for school).

How awesome is that? I'm just amazed at the timing of all this. Sure enough within a day of starting this post and asking for prayer God shows up in an incredible way. It is very very VERY rare that a deployment will be pushed back. If anything, it is usually pushed to an earlier date. How crazy is that?! So thank you very much for your thoughts and prayers! God certainly is listening :) Please continue praying, we still don't have a set date, but hopefully that will be coming shortly!

On a separate note, Kristjan and I started looking at housing in Charleston. We're pretty positive we're going to do military housing. It's on base, it's free, and it looks like we'd be getting a three bedroom place, which will feel huge! We'll have our bedroom and then another room for an office. But what to do with the third room??

Hmm, a few ideas come to mind:

Something smart and sophisticated, such as a small library and reading area?

No, you're right. It's much too fancy. Besides, for those of you who know me well, those books would just collect dust. And if Kristjan is at school all day, the last thing he'll want to do in his free time is sit in a room full of books.

So perhaps something more relaxing? A creative outlet to relieve stress? How about painting!

Though, I don't think the landlord will appreciate our creative outlet as much when it's all over the walls. And knowing Kristjan and I, most of the paint will most likely spill or splatter on the floor. Yeah, we need something fun, but NOT messy.

Oh, yes. The PERFECT solution:

An inflatable obstacle course AND...

Nerf Guns.

Match made in Heaven. :)

Almost 3 months later and still no date!

Hi all,

Well we've been engaged for almost three months now and we need your help! Please pray for us to get a date soon. Here's why it's been so difficult for us:

As many of you may know, Kristjan is in the Navy. His ship is due to leave for deployment mid-June. However, they will be sending him back early to start Nuc school. So as of now, we do not know when they'll send him back! July? August? September? Who knows! And seeing as this is February, we will need to know this information soon, especially if we're going to plan a July wedding!

The people on Kristjan's ship are working with us to try to figure out these logistics. For that, I am very thankful. But it is still unknown how long it may be until we have a date. That is why we need prayer! We figure, God undoubtedly brought us together, so he will undoubtedly make this work. So we are enlisting His help for this whole process. Therefore, please pray that He will bring peace to our minds about all of this, and that when we finally get a date, everything will fall into place, no matter how short of time we may be!

Stay tuned to see how this prayer has been answered! :)

How we got engaged

Last year before Kristjan went on his deployment we went to this park near his house. It was the last night we were going to spend together for the next four months, so it was a really special night for both of us.

So we drove to this playground and he spun me on the spinning wheel thing several times. After a while he asked me if I wanted to him to spin me one more time and I said sure. He spun me around really fast, hopped on and whispered "I love you" in my ear. Then he jumped off and gave the wheel another spin. As he spun the wheel I saw him reach into his pocket, and the next time I spun around and saw him he was kneeling down holding the ring. I was shocked!!

So as I sat there in shock the wheel kept spinning and I finally said "Stop the spinning thing!" So he did and he climbed on and sang the last verse of Love Story by Taylor Swift:

"Marry me Juliet, you'll never have to be alone. I love you and that's all I really know. I talked to your Dad, go pick out a white dress. It's a love story, Baby just say yes!"

I didn't know whether he was waiting for me to say "yes" or not, so we just stood there in silence holding each for a couple of seconds before I said, "I'm not sure if you're waiting for me to say yes or not!" He laughed and then asked me if I'd marry him. I said yes of course.
And that's the story or our engagement!
